Nearly there...

Have added a couple more items of scenery though haven't finished the checking routine to stop them appearing on top of one another.

Still need to have a good look at the collision routines-currently based on horizontal co-ordinates & a single detection point. May also need to revisit the screen scrolling as I'm doing this by copying a chunk of the full playing area into a new window.

Aint gonna hip hop, flip flop sucking on a pork chop

Been tidying up the code - like comments and putting things into proper procedures. Doesn't really have any outward impact, but makes life easier for me!

As a result, not much to report progress wise, though I do have killable sheep now which spiral through the air when hit :-) Next stage is to add sounds, though still got the collision detection to iron out.

Things should pick up this weekend when I'm due to get my new PC.

Another screenshot

Slowly but surely my first OPL program is developing. I've now got some sheep targets and a scarecrow, though I haven't written the collision detection routine. In fact, the routine used to detect a hit on a player is still very rudimentary and could do with looking at.

Nick Kennedy has written a nice Patience game (http://www.nick-kennedy.com/oplapps/) in OPL. Finally beat it on my 4th attempt!

A few games are available now & hopefully this will encourage others to develop apps and push OPL forward.

Mary had a little lamb...

Have created the sheep images for extra targets in game, but one seems to have wandered off. Now where did it go?

Not much else to report on the game play though.

Wellies

The game is progressing well. I've got a loading screen up as well as changing the input from a dialogue box to screen taps. A graded sky has been added in addition to a wind counter.

It's still in the pre-beta tester stage as there are still things that I know I want to add/change before canvassing for others opinions. Rafe: I'll take you up on your offer of being a beta-tester when it's ready and if anyone else wants to, please leave a message.

1 year on

It's been a full year now that I've had my mobile phone. After being an ardent anti-mobile person I relented and took the plunge (at the deep end) and got myself a P800.

Any regrets? None :-)

Further screenshot

Sorted out the problem of masking last night and have updated the program. Also have implemented "ground damage" where a crater is left when a shell hits the ground. Here's essentially the same shot again showing the updates.

Next stage is to sort out angle and power entry as I'm currently doing this through a dialogue box. Planning to use an approach similar to Steve Litchfield's Shut the Box ( here) which he has kindly made the source available.

First Screenshot from game

Here's a screenshot from my game in development. Still plenty to do but the basics are in place. Got the mask sorted for the "shell" but still need to implement for the tree.

First update from phone

Testing out a message from my P800.

It appears to work!

Welcome

Welcome to my weblog. Nothing of interest here at the moment, but should host any OPL programs that I develop. Currently working on a worms/scorched earth clone for my P800.
