No Connection

Some blithering idiot drove a low loader with a crane into the phone wires up the road from the house. Result phone wires down and no telephone line. No phone calls and no internet access. Believe me you don't relaise how much you miss it until its not there.

For me who was hard at work on site related things it has bought me to a grinding halt. Its immensely frustrating. Even offline development of pages and scripts is slowed. Normally I Google as my searchable help manual. Now that's taken away from me I'm feeling bereft.

To make matters worse BT have told me they are going to take 10 workin days to fix the phone line. Arghhh! What kind of service is that.

I should have sent out the last issue of YS, but thats been delayed because of the above troubles. Hopefully it will go out next weekend if not before.

I've borrowed an internet connection to check in on e-mail etc and write this, but its not the same as your own computer.

Oh and I should also add that I dont have a mobile signal at home. I have to go up to the local hill. Grr!

Blogging via WAP - actually XHTML MP

I\'ve set up a system which allows me (and all the other users of SD to blog via WAP. This means you can easily blog straight from the phone.

Thanks to the XHTML borwser capability of most Symbian phones the usual limitation associated with blogging via WAP (not enough characters in your text inputs) can be overcome. Also using XHTML (MP - - Mobile Profile) you can use form elements such as textarea which of course makes things much easier.

Still takes ages to write though.

There\'s options for both WAP (for those who dont have XHTML) and XHTML.
