Installing the OPL runtime to the 92x0.

For some it can't have escaped their attention that we have a link on the front page to download the OPL runtime for the 92x0. By now many people are feeling that they are missing out already on the experiences others are having by being able to run OPL applications, so heres a how to install, for those who need it.

First off click on the link to the runtime on the frontpage, that will take you to Symbian's website where you can download the run-time and will show you a little disclaimer that you'll probably want to read.

Secondly, download the runtime file which is approximately 260KB.

Thirdly, you have a choice, you can either double click the runtime installer and install to your communicator from your PC, or you can copy the file to the communicator and then open it in filemanager.

Fourthly, you have another choice, do you install the runtime to the C: or D: drive, I've got mine on the D: as I don't change MMCs often, but if you find yourself changing MMCs all the time you may prefer to have the runtime installed on C:.

Fifthly, you should now have the runtime application installed, all that remains is to find some OPL applications. http://www.freepoc.org is the home of Ewan Spence's masterpiece, Vexed. Also other applications are available at http://www.handango.com and others are linked to in the software directory at http://www.allaboutsymbian.com
