Offline Woes

I was going to spend my evening as I usually do online and visiting sites and chatting to online friends.

But when I got in at 5:00pm and turned on the computer, I soon realised I was in for a night off problems.

I went to my home page at My Yahoo but got an error message. Upon checking my Cable Modem I had the Power/Receive/Send/Online light flashing. On this model that usually means that it cannot connect to the ISP.

As I had had a hard day at work that I would sit down and watch television. I feel asleep after watching The Simpsons at about 8pm and woke around 11pm. I went back to my computer and the Cable Modem had connected with the ISP.

Around an hour later I was offline again. So I phoned my ISP and there was a recording say there was connection problems in 2 towns near me but not mentioning my town, so I held the line to talk to an adviser. I had to change my computers set up so one was connected direct to Cable Modem and was talked though checking the settings.

Eventually he concluded that I was probably being affected my the outages in the other local towns.

But I have to say that although I was not able to connect via Cable Modem, the adviser said that he would put a note on my account so I could use the Dial-Up service.

I had to write this offline in a text editor as even at 4:30 in the morning, it was still down, but I connected via Dial-Up to put this on my blog.
