In the middle of May, Fun-1 announced itself to the Internet - Jim and I had been writing for it and posting links to the sideblog in "Lurk Mode" since early March, and we had passed round the temporary URL to friends to get their opinions of the site. But it was in the middle of May we moved to our real domain and started to try and get noticed. In those two weeks, we had just under 200 visitors to our site.
So with a little bit of linking from some other small Formula 1 sites, we managed to get a slow increase in traffic. By mid June we broke 100 visitors a day and were on course to reach 1000 unique visitors for June (which was the target I had set, but for the third month!)
Come the end of June - both Jim and I are stunned. We've got over 1500 readers for the month. We're aiming to double this to 3000 for July. Well we were aiming for this. I've upped this to 5000 uniques for the month, given that in the first two days of July we've had 1550 unique visitors... Where did all that traffic come from? Because we found one of the magic rules to promoting a Formula 1 site. Mention Jos Verstappen in the headlines.
