Blogging From The Bathroom

Psion Wi-FiThe Wireless Router from the house turned up today. After setting aside most of tonight in the vain hope I could convince the Linksys kit to talk to Windows 98 over Cat5, NTL Broadband over our set-top box, and a Psion Netbook/Buffalo Airstation card, I was shocked to find the setup took about 5 minutes with no hiccups whatsoever.

So now the house is Wi-Fi-ed up very nicely (WiFied? Wi-Fied? Wi-Fi'd?) it's time to push the greatest Wi-Fi device I can think of. The Psion netBook. This little computer has been with me since 1999 - how many of you out there can say the same of your five year old laptops? (I'm not even going to broach the idea of a Mac Powerbook people not upgrading withing five months, let alone five years).

No matter where I am, I've got email, Web (via Opera), ICQ, all my documents and to-do lists, the works. Mobile Computing is about being mobile. Wi-fi delivers that. And yet again, it seems that something that could have been a success for Psion was 'just' missed. Grrr...

Expect me to post more notes on getting connected to modern net things over the next few days. In the meantime, I'd better flush and put the seat down.
